I sweltered in the soupy heat on Saturday afternoon for over 3 hours, but the reward of smoked ribs was fabulous. I am having some of the leftovers for lunch today. I have attempted it on several occasions, but I have never quite been able to nail the crust. It is ok but not great. I love me some Paula Deen cookin'. I too had a mother who rarely made pies from scratch. Thankfully, my mother-in-law is a big pie maker although it hasn't rubbed off on me yet. Last summer I made peach crisp for the first time.
